从家具布置和陈设的角度考虑，现代中式家具需要一定的室内空间作为布置和陈设的环境，这也就在客观条件上限制并约束着现代中式家具的尺度和比例的设置，因此在设计过程中应充分考虑现代中国民用住宅的家居环境和室内空间的尺度分布，从而确定各类型家具所适用的尺度和比例，而不能盲目地采用传统中式家具的尺度和比例关系，如传统的架子床、拔步床的体量几乎难以融入现代家居环境之中，尤其是在当前住宅结构普遍采用西式的钢筋混凝土结构，在平面布局上强调空间的功能性设置，其尺度和体量都是依据人的生活行为需求设置的，使用空间相对紧凑，这就要求家具尺度和比例也应适当进行调整，尤其是在系列化、组合式的家具中，往往需要依据墙体尺度或地板平面分割的比例进行变化和组合。此外当前的现代中式家具大多延续传统中式家具的造型理念，每一件家具都是独立的整体；而现代板式家具或组合家具则常常根据家居环境和人的功能需求进行适当的组合，并且与建筑室内结构如墙体、楼梯、天花等进行组合，从而使家具的形式更为灵活和多样，而在尺度和比例上也更方便人的使用。由此可见，现代中式家具同样可以在制作工艺和构成形式上与建筑家居进行相应的组合，从而使其尺度和比例的设置具有更广泛的自由度。 });
